How to find your ring size

Measure the finger you will actually wear the ring on, at the end of the day when your hands are at their largest, and make sure whatever you measure with passes over your knuckle. If you land between two sizes, take the larger one. Elaré uses standard US sizing throughout, and five minutes here saves you an exchange.

Three ways to measure

1. An Elaré ring sizer — the accurate one

A reusable plastic sizer covering US sizes 1 to 17, ships next day. Wrap it round the base of your finger and pull it snug, then check it slides over your knuckle the way a real ring would. If it will not pass the knuckle, loosen it slightly. Read the size at the arrow. Order a ring sizer.

2. A printable chart — the free one

Search for a free printable ring sizer, print it at exactly 100% scale with page scaling turned off, and check it against a ruler before you use it. A chart printed at 97% will give you the wrong size, which is the single most common mistake with this method.

3. String or paper and a ruler — no kit needed

Wrap a strip of paper or a piece of string round the base of the finger, mark where it overlaps, lay it flat and measure the length in millimeters. That is your circumference. Match it against a standard US ring size chart: roughly 51.9 mm is a US 6, 54.4 mm a US 7, 56.9 mm a US 8, 59.5 mm a US 9, 62.1 mm a US 10. Do not pull the paper tight; snug is the target.

When to size up

  • Between sizes. Always take the larger one. A ring slightly loose is wearable; a ring too tight is not.
  • Wide bands. A wide band covers more of the finger and fits tighter than a slim one at the same number. CRUSHED V2 is the widest cut we make.
  • Flat-top rings. A flat top sits square on the finger and fits tighter than a round-domed band. The CRUSHED SIGNET is a flat top.
  • SANCTUM specifically. SANCTUM is sized to fit true, so order the size you normally wear. Do not size up for it.

Things that change your size

Fingers swell in heat and after exercise and shrink in cold, by as much as half a size. Hands are usually largest in the evening. Your dominant hand is often half a size larger than the other. Measure warm, measure late, and measure the exact finger.

Getting it wrong

If the size is wrong we exchange it: we cover the ring, you cover the shipping on the replacement, within 14 days of delivery. It is still a week of waiting, which is why every product page lists the sizes and why we sell the sizer at cost. If you are unsure between two sizes after measuring, email support@elare.co with your measurement in millimeters and which piece you are looking at, and we will tell you which to take. FAQ

How do I measure my ring size at home?

Wrap a strip of paper or string round the base of the finger, mark the overlap, lay it flat and measure in millimeters, then match that circumference to a standard US chart. Roughly 51.9 mm is a US 6, 54.4 mm a US 7, 56.9 mm a US 8, 59.5 mm a US 9 and 62.1 mm a US 10.

What if I am between two ring sizes?

Take the larger size. A ring that is slightly loose can be worn; one that is too tight cannot, and an exchange costs you a week.

Does Elaré use US ring sizes?

Yes, standard US sizing throughout. The CRUSHED ring runs US 5 to 12, SANCTUM US 4 to 11; CRUSHED V2, V3 and the SIGNET run US 6 to 11; AXIOM runs 7 to 10; FORM and LUNARA run from 5 or 6 to 11.

Do I need to size up for SANCTUM?

No. SANCTUM sizes are marked to fit true, so order the size you normally wear.

Does a wide ring need a bigger size?

Yes, usually. A wide band covers more of the finger and sits tighter than a slim band at the same number, so size up if you are between sizes.

Can I exchange a ring that does not fit?

Yes. Email support@elare.co within 14 days of delivery with your order number and the size you need. We cover the replacement ring, you cover a flat $10 exchange shipping fee, anywhere in the world. One exchange per order. An unworn ring in its original condition can also be returned for store credit within 14 days.
